FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How Long Does It Take to Repair a Roof?

Each roof is different, and each project has a different size. Roof repairs usually take a few hours, but the exact timeframe will depend on the extent of the damages. You can ask MJ Roof Painting for a specific timeline once we inspected the roof and then we give you our estimate.

  • Do I need to do anything before the technicians arrive?

Yes, we suggest you move any vehicles, outdoor furniture or other items out of the way to allow the technicians to access the roof easily and to minimise any water damage or overspray from the pressure washing and painting process. If you have pets or young children, it is a good idea to keep them inside or in a separate area.

  • Do I have to move out when the painters are working?

Our house painters easily work around a lived-in house, so you do not have to move out. There is some dust generated in the preparation phase, so sometimes it is beneficial to move some items into other rooms strategically. We can advise on particulars when preparing a fee proposal. Other rooms can be closed off to prevent dust spreading.

  • Do I need to be at home for my roof to be inspected?

Yes. Our estimators will need to climb onto your roof in order to provide you with an accurate quote, and we prefer to do this with the owner present. We may also need to view the property internally to record any ceiling stains or roof leaks. This ensures you are fully apprised of the situation at all times and alleviates any neighbourhood watch concerns.

  • Can my roof be restored?

Yes. Most roofs can be restored provided they are structurally sound. An inspection by one of the MJ Roof Painting estimators will result in a detailed quote, free of charge.

  • Does my roof need re-coating or can you just repair it?

The repair and maintenance work protects your roof structure while the roof coating not only provides aesthetic appeal but also assists in improving longevity to the roof surface. Some general repair and maintenance is usually required on all roofs that are being re-coated.

  • Why should I use a licensed contractor to install my roof?

A licensed contractor and its employees have been certified by the state to perform their job to specific standards and building codes. An unlicensed contractor has not taken these certification exams and there is no guarantee or protection for you against poor workmanship or outright fraud.

  • How do I know if my roof needs repair versus a replacement?

MJ Roof Painting is very experienced in all aspects of commercial roof repair, restoration, and replacement. Allow us to inspect your roof, then we will make recommendations about whether your roof can be successfully repaired or needs to be replaced.
